The Runway Diva Says. . . Is an online advice column for aspiring models. As a 20 year veteran of the fashion industry as a plus sized model, I have found in my travels that most aspiring models, no matter their size, don't have a clue of the tools needed to become a successful model. Hopefully, I can help make their journey a little easier. Please Email me your questions to ORIGRUNWAYDIVA@aol.com

ProjectCURVES-Atlanta

bSharon

You are such a sweet awesome person. I learned so much from you at The ProjectCurves conference in Atlanta, GA last weekend and I had such a great time. You guys were so sweet, down to earth, and great people. I learned so much from you all and appreciate everything.

So I have a question:

I don't know if you remember that much about me but is some advice you could give me? I'm sure I could lose weight.

Hope you have a great week ;)

Thanks so much!

Christy

Hello Christy....

First of all, thank you for the wonderful compliments, they are much appreciated. Actually, I DO remember you and I DO have some advice for you....and believe it or not...it's not about you losing weight (if you are over a size 18....you already know what you have to do...so there's no need for me to say it again). But just your statement alone about losing weight speaks volumes to me. I specifically remember you at the ProjectCURVES conference because you looked absolutely horrified...lol...that you were selected as a volunteer model. But I saw immediately from your body language and your posture that you need to work on your CONFIDENCE level greatly. You are a pretty girl....but I am not sure that YOU know that. So start with that ASAP.

The other piece of advice has to do with your current headshot. I looked at the rest of your pictures and I have to say honestly....I don't know why you are using that headshot that you are NOT smiling on. You have a magnificent smile and you need to use that to your advantage. (remember what I spoke about during the conference?) The picture on your page looks very sad to me....you look forlorn and about to cry. (I don't know if that was the case....but that's how that particular photo "speaks" to me).

The first 8 photos are much more flattering and inviting....and clients always want to see that.

Think about it.

Good Luck to you!
